ADR As Management Tool: Elite Organizations Hold Joint Conference

Collaboration — a practice so often touted by the world’s leading ADR organizations — is too seldom practiced by those organizations themselves.

Therefore it is with great pleasure that I note a conference in February being jointly conducted by the ICC and the CPR Institute.

Calliope Sudborough, Deputy Manager of the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Services, notes that this event will constitute ICC’s 2nd International Mediation Conference.  It will be held, conveniently, on February 10, 2011 — the day after the Award Ceremony of ICC’s celebrated International Commercial Mediation Competition (4 – 9 February 2011).

The Conference is entitled Win-Win Strategies: Tools for corporate dispute management and will focus on the user’s perspective in dispute resolution – and in particular how companies can set up in-house dispute management systems. Mediation will be set out as one among many other dispute resolution procedures (including arbitration, expertise and dispute boards).

The February 2011 event will be attended by representatives from companies such as Areva, Veolia, MüncherRe, Wärtsila Corporation and others, as well as leading dispute resolution professionals from law firms all around the world.

With the participation of corporate end-users, and the emphasis on management rather than resolution of business disputes, this one appears to be a winner.  Registration information is available here.
